Ask Support a Question
If you have audio problems, our Support team can help. Right-click the tiny PC2Me icon and select Ask Support A Question. Type a brief message telling us that you are not hearing audio through the PC2Me Plus native app, and click Send.
Audio Device Setup for XP
You setup audio for PC2Me through your Windows Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window. Open Windows Control Panel, then Sounds and Audio Devices (or Sounds, then Speech and Audio Devices, then Sounds and Audio Devices).
- Playback and recording default devices must be the same.
Select the Audio tab, and check the Default Devices under Sound Recording and Sound Playback. If they are not the same, select the correct devices and click Apply.
For example, if you have a Realtek Hi Def sound system, both devices must list Realtek Hi Def.
- Speakers must be set to a stereo selection.
Select the Audio tab, and click the Sound Playback Advanced button, which opens Advanced Audio Properties. Select the Speakers tab. For Speaker setup, select a stereo option (not mono, surround sound, quadraphonic sound, etc.).
- Your audio driver must have stereo mix capability.
If your driver does not have stereo mix, you may need to update your driver.
Note that some computers were shipped with audio drivers from which stereo mix capability was removed, in order to prevent piracy. You may need to get an update for your audio driver directly from the driver manufacturer, not from your computer manufacturer.
Note also that in some cases, your computer chipset may not support stereo mix. In this case, you might buy a sound card that does (an inexpensive one is fine), or use a USB headset that has stereo mix (and set that as your default audio device.)

Audio Device Setup for Vista
You setup audio for PC2Me through your Windows Sound window. To open that window: Open Windows Control Panel, then Sound (or Hardware and Sound, then Sound, then Manage Sound Devices).
- Playback and recording default devices must be the same.
Select the Playback tab and then the Recording tab. In each tab, the default device has a green-circle-with-white-checkmark icon. If they are not the same, select the correct devices and click Apply.
For example, if you have a Realtek Hi Def sound system, both devices must list Realtek Hi Def.
In most cases, the correct selection for Playback device is Speakers.
- Show all devices. In both the Recording and Playback tabs, right-click the default device and make sure that "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" are both checked.
- Speakers Default Format must be set to 44000 Hz or less. We recommend 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD quality). In the Playback tab, click the default speaker device, then the Properties button, which open the Speakers Properties window. Select the Advanced tab and select a Default Format.
- Check Exclusive Mode options. In the Playback tab, click the default speaker device, then the Properties button, which open the Speakers Properties window. Select the Advanced tab and make sure both Exclusive Mode options are checked. The options are:
- Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.
- Give exclusive mode applications priority.
How it works: In Vista, PC2Me gets audio from the Speaker device.
If that fails, then it gets audio from a device with Stereo mix capability.
If stereo mix is non-existant, then you must update your driver.

Volume Control
In Vista, adjust volume through the application you're listening to, not through Windows sound controls. Why? PC2Me does a loopback on the Speakers device, and in some cases, Vista doesn't allow loopback to play copy-protected material.
In XP, adjust the volume through Windows volume controls.
